Position Overview. Wah Mei seeks full-time Chef to plan and prepare daily breakfast, lunch and snacks for the sites, and wash, clean, sterilize all dishes, utensils, pots/pans and equipment used in the preparation of the meals. The Chef will ensure food service complies with all contracts, laws, guidelines and policies, including
PFA, State licensing regulations, and CACFP. The position is non-exempt and offers benefits and competitive pay, commensurate with experience.
Position Description:
The Chef will be responsible for oversight of meal services at a specific location. This includes Cooking, and cleaning responsibilities, and oversight of cooks, and assistant cooks at the discretion/ direction of the Food
Services Manager. Chefs will test recipes and support the Food Services Manager in menu planning, and daily oversight of site cleanliness, pantry/ food storage, inventory, and meal preparations at their assigned site
Key Responsibilities
- Cook and serve meals for up to 80 children including Breakfast, Lunch, and Snacks
- Clean the kitchen, and wash the dishes after service
- Test recipes, make basic adjustments, and work with the Food Service Manager to build the WMS recipe book
- Oversee the allergy system at the site as Directed by the Food Service Manager
- Maintain Inventory and Freshness utilize the FIFO system with pantry, refrigerator, and freezer
- Report weekly Inventory to the Food Service Manager
- Report order needs to the Food Service Manager
- Monthly Meetings regarding Menu Plannings and other meetings as needed
- Assist the Food Service Manager with CACFP as assigned
- Oversee the Kitchen at the assigned site, including cleanliness, inventory, preparation, cooking, service, and assigned CACFP administrative duties
- Oversee CACFP portioning as directed
- Maintain records as directed
- Attend required CACFP Trainings Virtually
Knowledge, Traits and Other Requirements. The Chef must be able to work independently, maintain professional boundaries, and stay current on continuing education requirements. The Chef must be reliable, have excellent planning and organizational skills, and an attention to detail and effective documentation.
Education/ Requirements:
- ServSafe Food Handlers Certification
- ServSafe Allergy Training
- CACFP Trainings
- Minimum 1 year supervisory experience
- Minimum 2 years relevant work experience
- Mandated reporter Training
- Sexual harassment prevention training
- Background Check Required
- Provide TB and medical clearance
- CPR and First Aid Certification
- Meet all Requirements in accordance with title 5 and title 22
