ABOUT THE ROLE

As a highly visible member of the property’s Leadership team, this position will oversee all aspects of guest room and common area housekeeping for Hotel, preparing and planning team work schedules, training housekeeping staff on policy and procedure with the goal of providing consistency and order, while managing customer service inquires, requests or complaints, and ensuring that the highest standards for cleanliness, safety and sanitation are maintained throughout the properties. This position requires the delivery of exceptional customer service and guest experiences.

Reporting to the Hotel General Manager, the Executive Housekeeper will be accountable for managing and coordinating resources, tasks and requirements related to housekeeping and laundry operations, including inventory assessment, supply ordering, vendor invoices and budgeting. Qualified candidates must be able to monitor internal controls, have strong interpersonal skills and be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while fostering an energized and positive work environment in order to provide exceptional guest experiences.

Essential Duties:

  • Strong administrative skills, reporting skills, communication skills, leadership and team coordination abilities
  • Ability to engage and supervise a team on a day-to-day basis, with a strong ability to mentor, to drive employee engagement and team performance
  • Strong ability to establish relationships and foster efficient, positive and proactive communication with vendors, colleagues, hotel General Managers, Assistant General Managers and Department Supervisors
  • Ability to set both short-term and long-term goals, geared towards the unique aspects of the Hotel, designed towards delivering financial success, accounting compliance and timely reporting
  • Schedule flexibility and ability to work extended and/or irregular hours to include nights, weekends and holidays
  • Role may require the ability to drive a motor vehicle, stand, stand for long periods of time, walk, push or pull a cart, sit, stock shelves, climb stairs or a ladder, bend, reach above your head or below your knees, kneel, talk, talk on a telephone or mobile device, carry a laptop (including while commuting), use a computer for a significant amount of time each day, to hear, and to occasionally lift up to 25 lbs. without assistance and to travel between hotels.

Specific requirements of the role:

  • Working closely with other department heads the Executive Housekeeper serves as a key support resource to hotel operations
  • The Executive Housekeeper will ensure that the highest standards of cleanliness are maintained, that guest requests are promptly addressed, and that guest rooms and public spaces are both attractive and well maintained
  • Accountable for managing the resources, tasks, systems and processes related to housekeeping and laundry operations
  • Coordinating team to achieve daily, weekly and monthly goals while maintaining a sense of energy, commitment and a positive work environment
  • Establish and monitor departmental standards, guidelines & objectives
  • Conduct daily walk-throughs and quality checks with a mindset of guest satisfaction and exceptional service
  • Anticipate guest needs; act as problem solver in instances of guest dissatisfaction; address all guest complaints or requests in a timely manner
  • Ability to motivate team to produce quality results within a tight timeframe
  • Drive effective communication across the housekeeping and laundry departments to ensure consistency, cohesiveness and clear understanding of objectives and priorities
  • Conduct regular inventory checks to ensure proper supply levels
  • Approve and process vendor invoices and perform other accounting-related functions as may be necessary
  • Maintain the integrity of the hotel’s compliance with safety and security programs and with local, state and federal reporting or safety requirements
  • Any other special projects and responsibilities that may be required by the General Manager, Assistant General Manager, Chief Engineer and other members of the leadership team as may be commensurate with the broad nature and scope of the role

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a supervisory role
  • 5 – 7 years of relevant work experience
  • Average to advanced PC skills including Microsoft Excel, Word
  • Strong organizational, analytical, verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with subordinates, peers and management
  • Reliable and responsible character
  • Exceptional follow up and attention to detail with a proven track records of delivering results
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively while maintaining calmness, composure, and hospitality
